Jose Cardoso Sobrinho, the conservative regional archbishop for Pernambuco where the girl was rushed to hospital, has said that the man would not be thrown out of the Church, because although he had allegedly committed “a heinous crime”, the Church took the view that “the abortion, the elimination of an innocent life, was more serious”.

I just want to repeat the crux of this quote so it’ll sink in: the Catholic church believes that a 9-year-old rape victim getting an abortion is worthy of excommunication but actually raping a 9-year-old is NOT worthy of excommunication.

I was raised Catholic and this shit (aside from not believing in god) is why I don’t practice it anymore.

If the act of abortion falls under “women’s rights” then the act of rape falls under “rapists rights”, child molestation under “molesters rights”. If we are not willing to legalize rape and child molestation because those committing those acts should have that right, then we cannot allow women to kill their babies and call it a right. Abortion kills a unique human person and can NEVER be considered a “right”.

Abolish Abortion

Stop comparing abortion to rape.

It’s wrong on so many levels.

I think my favorite part about the original post is that women are being compared to child molesters and rapist for just existing.

Abortion is not murder. In order for it to be murder, it must infringe on another person’s rights. Since fetuses don’t have rights and are not persons, it’s not murder.

The reason rape is illegal is because the victim has rights, rights the rapist infringed upon. The reason molesting a child is wrong is because the victim has rights and cannot legally consent to be touched sexually by an adult.
