So….it’s totally fine to excommunicate a nun who had a direct hand in saving a 27-year-old woman’s life by approving an abortion but NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE that there are priests who have been molesting children?
WHAT. THE. FUCK.
No, seriously. What the fuck. The patient in question had virtually a 100 per cent chance of dying if she kept the fetus. And according to a representative of the Diocese who excommunicated this nun, “The end does not justify the means.” So basically…the 27-year-old woman who needed the abortion to live was not as valuable as the fetus. Nice. At least they’re being honest and saying flat out that they don’t hold women up to be as valuable or more valuable than a blastocyst of human cells. Now if only they’d be this honest about protecting pedophiles in the church.
First off, this nun should not have been excommunicated in any way.
Second, they excommunicated her immediately. This coming from an organization that will not even defrock or excommunicate a priest even after molesting over 200 DEAF BOYS.
Just wanted to make the double standard a little more clear. The article adresses the double standard in towards the end but I wanted to be sure to address it in my analysis of the situation. Honestly…it’s shocking that the Catholic Church still has followers.
