I’m sitting here fuming while I think about the state of things in this country.
And I get it. The GOP’s agenda is to get President Obama out of office and instead of putting forward qualified, well-rounded candidates, they’re sabotaging any and all legislation by introducing bills that are a waste of time and energy while the rest of us drown in debt, mortgages, bad loans, or monthly debit card “usage fees” (FUCK YOU BANK OF AMERICA) all while being paid less than a living wage (if we’re even lucky enough to have a fucking job).
I get it. I do.
But what I don’t understand is how stupid this whole thing is. It’s like the republicans are just saying, “I don’t want state-funded abortions.”
And then everyone else is like, “Cool. The Hyde Amend-“
GOP: “No state-funded abortions.”
DEMS: “OKAY. But the Hyde amendment makes sure there aren’t any.”
So the next round of legislation comes around and it’s held up because:
GOP: “No state-funded abortions!”
DEMS: “It says specifically on line 2 of the bill that abortions won’t be state-funded.”
GOP: “No state-funded abortions.”
So then they have to separate everything out into separate bills because the GOP is just blatantly lying bout fucking everything. And they do this with SO MANY bills. The dems could try to pass something that says rainbows and sunshine are a good thing and the GOP would claim it’s trying to sneak in state-funded abortions.
I just CAN’T anymore.
And also, from a medical perspective I am just pissed THE FUCK off.
Letting a patient die in front of you is not an acceptable thing to do as a doctor. Not giving aid to someone who is dying is a crime. And if you go into medicine and refuse to treat someone in the middle of a miscarriage who is dying because of Jesus or whatever then you should get the fuck out of medicine because by that logic helping anyone get better would be against God’s plan.
You came in with an ear infection that could easily be treated with antibiotics? NOPE. FUCK YOU. GOD WANTS YOU TO LOSE YOUR HEARING.
You came in with strep throat?
NOPE. FUCK YOU. NO ANTIBIOTICS FOR YOU, YOU GET TO DIE WHEN IT TRAVELS TO YOUR BRAIN.
You’ve got cancer?
NOPE. FUCK YOU. THAT TUMOR IS A GIFT FROM GOD. SUCK IT UP AND ENJOY HOSPICE CARE, WIMP.
You need an organ transplant?
NOPE. FUCK YOU. GOD WANTED YOU TO LIVE WITH YOUR DISEASED KIDNEYS, YOU INGRATE.
Of course, all of those scenarios would be fucking absurd to turn a patient away when they are in need of treatment. The ONLY case it’s acceptable is when someone comes into the clinic/ER/hospital in need of an emergency abortion.
You’re bleeding to death from a miscarriage?
NOPE. FUCK YOU. HERE’S A PANTYLINER.
Your Fallopian Tube might ruptured from an ectopic pregnancy?
NOPE. FUCK YOU. WE’VE GOTTA WAIT UNTIL YOUR TUBE EXPLODES AND IRREVOCABLY DAMAGES YOUR FUTURE FERTILITY.
If you’re going into medicine and there are scenarios in which you absolutely will NOT treat a patient, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS GOING INTO MEDICINE AND ARE A DISGRACE TO THE PROFESSION. Your religion should not dictate the medical choices of your patients.
I rarely weigh in on issues because I know I’m in the minority. To be perfectly honest, liberals are fucking idiots when it comes to money. They’re all about spreading the wealth and complaining how unfair their lives are. And that’s exactly what socialism is.. it’s a group of people who say “things aren’t fair” and how everything should be equal. Sorry but open your eyes.. it’s time to realize NOT everyone is equal. All these “social” programs are just increasing our deficit. Liberals, to be perfectly honest, are the ones who are so caught up in the “American Dream” that they can’t see they’re destroying it with their spending programs.
Before I go further I want everyone to know that I’m fiscally conservative, socially liberal, and I’m relatively worldly. But anyways back to liberal bullshit.. liberals are so disillusioned by the idea of “America” and it being the land of equality and opportunity. They’re social spending programs that cost the nation trilions are gonna hurt us in the long run.
Here’s where things get a bit fuzzy for me because I don’t know the exact stance or agendas of conservatives, since it’s easy to blame the party in power. Instead I’ll just phrase my ideas. I believe that conservative fiscal policies, like most economists or people in the banking industry believe, are the key to free market. The economic policies that are essentially enacted by conservatives are EXACTLY what this country needs right now. We are facing uncertain times. To all those liberals who want your equality.. what are you going to do when the US defaults on it’s loans? Did you know that the only reason America is the only country allowed to have such a huge debt/deficit is because the Federal Reserve Note (FRN or the USD) is the official reserve currency. Which means ONLY the US is allowed to print FRN AND all goods in the world are traded using the FRN. This is just basic economics that you can read up on the internet.
I won’t go into full detail because I’m no expert and I only know the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this. However I do know that conservative policies tend to work, not necessarily in lowering debt or eliminating deficits, but in jump starting the economy. Open your textbooks and under both conservative and liberal leadership, the debt has risen. However if you take a closer look, times of relatively prolonged prosperity occur under conservatives. Conservative policies of small government and lower taxation on the upper class, generally the entrepreneurs and business owners, allows for greater spending, greater hiring, and essentially the “trickle down” effect.
Don’t get me wrong, when it comes to conservative social policies, I think they’re the most culturally backwards people in Western societies. I’m fully behind equality and giving healthcare to people regardless if they can pay, or LGBT rights, or even pro-choice (I’m pro-life but I recognize other’s rights to do what they want). But there is a time and place for everything. Under times of economic hardship, we need a conservative hand to guide our economy; under times of economic prosperity, I believe we need a liberal power to shape our country into a beacon for equality and opportunity.
Just a side-note… to the original post, democrats did the same thing to George W. Bush under his second term. So don’t think it’s a conservative tactic :P it’s a politician thing..
ALSO you know those monthly debit card fees.. go google Dodd-Frank, it’s covered under that Act and GUESS WHAT?!? Dodd AND Frank, the representative and senator that sponsored the bill, which was signed by Obama are all liberals :P
*Dodd-Frank is the reason why Bank of America is imposing the the monthly fee
Also if anyone hates me then w/e haha. #freespeech
And I’m not going to get into economics with you since you’ve repeated that you are no expert in the area but republican “fiscal conservatism” is what allowed the 2008 recession to happen. The tax rates that the top 1% of earners have right now are lower than the tax rates I pay as a full-time student because I pay sales, gas, and so many other taxes. Warren Buffet should not be paying a lower tax rate than his secretary. The “fiscally conservative” tax rates the top earners are currently paying were meant to be temporary and because they are still allowed, our economy and our country’s deficit have suffered.
We cannot ask the middle class to pay more taxes, like the republicans want to do, without asking the top 1% to pay an equal amount first. And this also has nothing to do with social programs. If the top 1% paid what they should, it would help the deficit more than cutting social programs.
I don’t really care about how you view economics or taxes or politics, that’s your view and I don’t care. My point was that there are people who are out of work and don’t have time for congress to waste time with such legislation since it will never be passed by the senate. There are people on the verge of losing their homes, there are people who have been out of work for over a year, there are people who have children that need to be fed and it gets harder and harder for people in extremely dire situations to make ends meet while the republicans in congress spend time voting on legislation that will not only increase the need for social services (more children born into poverty [because 69% of women seeking abortions live 100% or more under the federal poverty level] means that the state will need to assist them in some way via food stamps, health care, etc.) but is just wasting time. There have been no jobs created by the passing of this bill and if it passed the Senate and the President’s desk it STILL wouldn’t make any jobs.
The fact that congress has tried to pass legislation like this multiple times in the past year just shows how out of touch the House republicans are with the state of things in this country. While President Obama introduces bills that ARE fiscally conservative and cut 580 billion dollars in social programs, the republicans refuse to vote for it because they don’t want to raise the tax rate on their main campaign donors. It’s a conflict of interest and it’s unethical.
Regardless, you missed the point of my post which was: There are too many people in this country who are suffering because congress won’t introduce any jobs legislation and things are too serious for those of us who are struggling for congress to be playing a pissing game over abortion rights legislation (because they are butthurt about the HCR bill being passed) that has a snowball’s chance in hell of getting passed through the senate and not vetoed by the President.
And George W. Bush had more support than Obama does right now. The democrats did not hold the nation hostage when it was time to raise the debt ceiling. They raised it because it was in the best interests of the country.
And free speech allows you to say what you want. It does not exempt you from criticism.
(P.S I didn’t even get into the tax loopholes for major corporations, like BP (who paid no taxes in the US while it’s oil spill destroyed the Gulf of Mexico) that could, literally, add trillions of dollars to the government’s coffers.)
